What Is The Point?
Robert Higgs explains it with eloquence. I hope Dr. Higgs does not mind my reblogging his words. What Is the Point of My Libertarian Anarchism? by Robert Higgs In college in the 1960s I was not a political person. Although I took a keen interest in politics, especially in the war that was raging in Vietnam, I concentrated on my studies, earning a living, and chasing women. After I began work...

Consider This
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was at 11,723 on January 14, 2000. It closed at 11,809 on October 21, 2011. In between, the dollar depreciated by over 30%. So when you hear the talking head propagandists on TV & radio talking about The Dow teasing the 13,000 mark and how it’s a good sign for the economy, just take into account the fact that that fiat paper money in your pocket just...

This Needs No Comment...But I Will.
While in Austin on vacation visiting my family I stopped by a place called Nelo’s to pick up a couple things and noticed this hanging on the wall. Columbus tubing Tommasini with all the chrome just like I always wanted when I was a kid growing up here in the 80’s. Not viewable in the shitty cell phone picture is the patently absurd $2,299 price tag. It looked vintage but I did not...

This Just Begs For My Comments
During my lunch break from the darkroom I came across this piece about so-called “Ronverts”. Apparently some of the brainwashed, Hitlerian, cultists that slobbered all over The Empty Suit during his victorious 2008 Presidential Campaign are finding out that their Obama crush was a lie. These folks are “heartbroken” and like a jilted lover on the rebound are discovering the...

The SuperDuperBirthdayBowlRide version 6.0
Well we did it again. Six years running now and 2012 takes the prize for the largest attendance, longest route, and fastest pace. No weather records were challenged. Sunday was sunny, clear, and hovering around 35F all day. Cold but not stupid cold like the 20F days of years gone by. I’m guessing that after two weeks of training and then hammering out 130 miles with relative ease that I...

A Story of Two Bikes
Beside the obvious superiority of the bike on the right due to the use of Campagnolo components, there are a few other differences that are not so obvious. The bike on the left saw over 25 hours of training rides this week while the bike on the right was just excited to get out for four days of training in a week in well over 3 months. In addition the bike on the left has one of those fancy...

It's About That Time Once Again
Sunday, February 5, 2012, I turn 43. Another prime number. I like prime numbers. Thirty-seven was perhaps the best, while forty-one might be one of the worst (for many of the same reasons) but at the very least primes are never dull.  So it goes on this silly occasion that I hit out and ride 200 km in some bizarre ritual that is intended to keep me from ever growing old. It all began about...

What If...My President Part ?
Andrew Napolitano is the only reason to turn on TV news. Period. I would pay good money to see this man nominated for Vice President and debate Joe “The Dumbest Man To Ever Be A Heartbeat Away” Biden next Fall. I have been screaming this from the top of my lungs since I was in high school. What if? It is not a matter of if. It is this way and always has been this way. The...

And Just In Case You Are Bored With Stupid...
In honor of recent votes in the shit mess we like to call Congress… Thank God this collection of thieves, liars, criminals, and all around dunces pass laws together! Why I wouldn’t want anyone to be left out when it comes to subverting The Constitution and voting to allow imprisonment without trial or further bankrupting the Ponzi scheme known as Social Security (that’s the...

Back To The Road
Fall 2011 is the longest gap in training for me since 2001. After nearly ten years of non-stop riding/training and racing from March to October every year, I seemed to run out of motivation late last Summer and have trained sparingly through the Fall. At the height of my time “off” I reached 176 lbs. That is 18lbs over my lightest racing weight. I’m 6’ 1”....

My President, Part 4(?)
In the back asswards world of today, the comedian Jay Leno is a better journalist than CBS anchor Bob Schieffer. Congressman Paul hits the proverbial home run on The Tonight Show and Joe Rogan shows that not everyone in Hollywood has their head up their ass. Iowa baby. Levin, Limbaugh: I love you guys but you might want to start deciding how you want that crow cooked.

Criminal, Part Deux
In my continuing series of mugshots I give you United States Attorney General Eric Holder, leader of the criminal gang known as The Department of Injustice Justice, appointed by Puppet-in-Chief Barack Obama. Now unlike John Corleone Corzine, Mr. Holder doesn’t dabble in silly pursuits like stealing piles of cash from suckers clients. He knows his tab is paid in full already as one of the...

Scratch Acid
Every once in a while a band comes around that is so singular and unique that they influence many other groups and musicians even though they are around for only a few years. Joy Division is probably the best example of this. Austin’s very own Scratch Acid is another. Rey Washam, David Yow, David William Sims, and Bret Bradford I’m one of the lucky ones. I saw the band in the...

Prediction
I’ve been away in Texas taking the first steps to possibly returning to the beautiful game and my past life (albeit this time as a coach and trainer and not, and I repeat NOT as a player for all you out there back in Austin who think I’ll be suiting up and heading back into goal-yes, you know who you are). There is much to tell. But I wanted to get something on the record first. Ron...

Of all the unexpected comes this from Adam Carolla. Adam Carolla? Wasn’t he of MTV fame a while back? Who cares, he is right although I’d also blame the shitbag generation that raised the “ass-douches” he identifies. The world owes you nothing.

I Usually Don't Do This Sort Of Thing But...
I don’t tend to post daily occurrences but this one was just too good. I’m supposed to be on the “all holy” no-call list but I still get solicitations. Tonight I received a call from Bob representing “The Chiefs of Police” something or other. He said it was “to recognize those who support” the organization. I stated that I do not support said...

A Short List
From The Mind Body Politic which should be required reading, comes this little list. 25 REASONS TO BE GLAD TO BE IN AMERICA Right now, in this country, even with all its problems, 1. You can buy a condo on a lake for under $15,000. 2. You can buy a house in a good neighborhood that needs a little work for $25,000. You can buy a trailer for under $1000. 3. You can sell unskilled or...

Criminal
This is the portrait of a master thief. In another episode of “See, I Told You So” ( I said he was dirty long before he served a day in the Senate) , John Corzine, former gang leader at Goldman Sachs, former gang leader of New Jersey, and former member of the elite gang of criminals known as The US Senate, has finally lived up to his potential with the whole MF Global meltdown. Hope...

Bob Schieffer Is A Disgrace
That relic of “journalism” Bob Schieffer shows his true colors and allegiances. Like all good little statists and propagandists, Old Bob does what the The Company tells him to and tries to smear Dr. Paul with the usual nationalistic bullshit one tends to see more often on Fox. But with Congressman Paul starting to poll with the likes of establishment candidates like Mitt and The Newt,...

The Only Reason To Ever Watch TV News
Is Andrew Napolitano’s show on of all places FOX. Lew Rockwell says it best around the 3:55 mark of the video. The enemy is in Washington DC. And regardless what criminal entity-The DNC or The RNC-wins Congress or which bankster puppet is elected President, that statement will remain true.

Occupy This
I’ve waited a bit to make any comment about the “demonstrations” taking place in New York and elsewhere undet the Occupy (blank) moniker. My gut instinct is that they are about as pointless and banal as anything. My gut was right. Here is Adam Kokesh in DC with some sign carrying offspring of baby boomers (the WORST generation) making their momma proud by carrying the torch of...

Sometimes Statistics Can Be Fun
So the Occupy Wall Street thingy banters about this 99% and 1% mantra as the real problem or root cause of all our ills.  Apparently the 1% are “evil” and take the form of big corporations, big banks, and the like. Wall Street is to the occupy folks the symbolic representation of these “evil doers”. Hence the little party in the park in lower Manhattan. I call BULLSHIT. ...

Time To Lose Some More Followers
I’ve noticed the follower total fluctuate (downward) as I opine on some things other than bike racing. Too bad. I tend to be fascinated with the theatre of the absurd that is politics, economics, and just society in general. To sum it up in one simple thought: we are living in an Orwellian novel written by Franz Kafka. Now I don’t give much about polls. But this one I have to...

What Bill? Part Deux
Now this is fucking hysterical. Apparently a fellow Texan in Congress decided to snag the name American Jobs Act for his two page bill that would simply repeal the corporate income tax thereby doing more in two pages of legislation to “create jobs” than anything proposed by the current occupant of The White House. And since no one actually introduced a bill (you know, the one Barry...

It Only Took Them 26 Years
I won’t claim to be the first person to call out Social Security. Long before I was born Barry Goldwater told the truth about the scam that is SS (yah, I do see the irony in it having the same initials as the Nazi group) during the 1964 presidential election. Everything Senator Goldwater said then has come true already or is poised to become reality in the very near future. I addition I...
